Big resource post.

1) Multiple icon uploader

Exactly what it says - will upload multiple icons so you don't have to.

[For Windows] [For Mac] - both files hosted by [info]lena

Keywordable version
[For Windows] [For Mac]

Instructions (all versions)
Instructions for use (Win) - put all your icons in the folder, double click 'upl.bat' and type in your username and password
Instructions for use (Mac) - put all your icons in the folder, ctrl-click 'upload.sh,' open with > terminal and type in your username and password
Instructions for keywording - name the icon what you want its keyword to be before uploading
Instructions for editing (for use at GJ or LJ) - edit the program using notepad or textedit (NOT WORD) and change every instance of insanejournal to livejournal or greatestjournal

NOTE Windows Vista Users
You must do the following for the uploader to work (info courtesy of [info]slayer)
start --> control panel --> user accounts --> turn user account control on/off --> unclick use User Account Control

** I would suggest turning UAC back on when you are finished uploading. It is a function of Vista that limits privileges of non-authorised programs (i.e. malware) so they can't mess with your system. **

2) LJ/GJ/IJ/JF login

Stores all your usernames for all supported LJ clones simultaneously (firefox only)

http://ljlogin.e-space.gweep.net/

**DEFUNCT (but still here if you are interested in the code)**
Edited LJlogin (for use with New Site Schemes or Scribbld):

3) Backup and migration tools

Different ways of archiving or moving your journals

http://karma-apple.insanejournal.com/8073.html

4) Thread unfolder

Allows you to view collapsed threads without going to a different page

http://karma-apple.insanejournal.com/14135.html

5) Adblockers

Adblock Plus (Firefox)

Install and restart your browser

IE Adblock (IE7)
(Direct link because the site is annoying as hell and tries to redirect you to download other pointless shit -- irony, anyone?)

http://pleasantlysharp.googlepages.com/ieadblock_exe_0.6.exe
(Mirror if the previous stops working for some reason)

Download, install, restart browser; doesn't block flash for some reason. If you want to be totally adfree, you can disable flash by going to the tools --> manage add-ons --> enable or disable add-ons --> select add-ons that run without permission --> shockwave flash object --> disable
** note that disabling this way does not differentiate between helpful flash and ad-flash **

Safari AdBlock (Safari)

Download and install

Adblock Filter (Opera 9)

Open urlfilter.ini (you can find this file by clicking here and copying the address - make sure to take out the quotes); copy the contents of the filter and paste them under the [exclude]; close Opera; save the ini file; restart Opera

6) Worksafe CSS fixes

My edits to the Worksafe CSS (stylish + firefox)

7) Check all boxes

Annoyed by having to click a jillion tickyboxes to clear out icons? These Firefox add-ons allow you to mass-select boxes and check them all at once.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2708

Instructions: select all your tickyboxes, the same way you would highlight text, right click --> 'check all selected'

8) Prettify Insanejournal

http://userstyles.org/styles/16795

Replaces a number graphics on insanejournal (like )with cuter ones (like ).

Requires Firefox & Stylish; created by boundary

If you want to change the images, after installing, take a look at the code and replace the background-image with an image of your choice.

Tweaking Worksafe --> Sidebar

[info]branchandroot is working hard to work out the kinks of the new IJ sitescheme, but I thought it might be useful to provide a Firefox css 'fix' for right now to deal with common complaints (and some of my own aesthetic nit-picks - like Verdanaizing everything) that may not be fixable in the long run.

As always, if you find it particularly useful, it's nice of you to link :>

"Worksafe" (sidebar) in Firefox 2.0.0.* - Apparently works on Mac!Firefox, hurrah! Compatible with "Dramatic" if you alter the colors appropriately (see the comment in .sidebar #IJ-sitepage-nav)

**** NOTE **** The css for the site scheme is still being worked out, so if you see any weird screw ups, come back and re-copy/paste the code - chances are I've already changed the code to keep up with the site-scheme's evolving css (why, yes I DO spend more time on IJ than is healthy).

Major things that have been fixed
• Verdana!
• Font sizes more normalized
• Colors more consistent on all pages
• Horizontal scroll gone (now fixed in IJ site scheme)
• Removes <hr> for cleaner borders
• changes em ~> px (limits text size to normal +/- a size but cleans up hovers)

Fixes I'm working on
• Centering the userinfo menubox (with add, nudge, to-do etc) above the bio box

**PLEASE NOTE -- some of this code may be defunct as site code gets updated. Defunct code won't harm your layout (and if it does, I'll notice and update accordingly)**

If you'd like to use it, you need to do the following:

1) Install the add-on "stylish"
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108

2) Right click the stylish icon --> write style --> 'blank style'

3) Copy and paste the following code into the blank space, name it, hit save. Everything is commented so you can decide if you don't like or want to change any of the changes.

Thread Unfolder
What does it do?
Annoyed by collapsed threads? Me too. It allows you to unfold part or all of the threads on the page.

What do I have to do!
1) Have firefox
2) Install greasemonkey, restart firefox
3) Go here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/5552 and click "install script"
4) Right click the monkey in your status bar (that's greasemonkey) and go to manage scripts.
5) Click the unfolder and go to included pages --> "add"
6) Type in (or c/p) http://*.insanejournal.com*
7) Close, and your favourite comment pages should have "unfold" options on collapsed comments or "unfold all" at the top of the comment page (next to post new comment)

Screencap (note, this is on the same page - not a NEW page like you'd normally be redirected to)
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t123/em_m75/screencapforalter.png

NOTE

It will only work on the s1 comment pages (as far as I know!) so I would suggest enabling those in your journal by going to customise journal --> enable custom style = "no" (if you're using an s2 style)

You can also add a bookmark with the following text:
javascript:location.search+=(location.search?'&':'?')+'style=mine'

and click this anytime you're on a customised comment page.
